Dr. Hamilton Gaiani is a double board-certified psychiatrist specializing in adult and addiction psychiatry. A graduate of Harvard University with a degree in psychology, he earned his medical degree from the University of Miami on a full academic scholarship. Dr. Gaiani completed his psychiatry residency and an addiction psychiatry fellowship at Yale School of Medicine.
Throughout his career, Dr. Gaiani has demonstrated a unique blend of clinical expertise and entrepreneurial spirit. He has developed and managed several ventures spanning real estate, recovery housing, and private psychiatric practice. Notably, while still a resident at Yale, he established a recovery residence in New Haven, supporting numerous women in their recovery journeys. This initiative highlighted critical issues in recovery housing, leading him to serve as Vice President of the Connecticut Coalition of Recovery Residences (CCOR), where he collaborated with national organizations and state departments to ensure high-quality standards for recovery houses.
Dr. Gaiani maintains a private practice and is affiliated with a nationally recognized Top 100 Hospital and a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network. He is also committed to education, serving voluntarily as a Clinical Instructor at the Yale School of Medicine and an Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. In these roles, he teaches medical students, residents, and addiction fellows, and provides grand rounds focusing on care for individuals with substance use disorders.
His dedication extends to underserved populations, having served as a consulting psychiatrist for a community organization providing mental health services to patients affected by HIV and AIDS. Dr. Gaiani's clinical approach encompasses treatment for the full spectrum of mental health conditions in addition to substance use disorders. He continues to collaborate with leading researchers in addiction psychiatry and medicine, contributing to innovative treatment approaches that improve outcomes and save lives.
